Bansko Bulgaria

Bansko is the premier ski and mountain resort in Bulgaria and lies at the foot of the Pirin mountains. The Pirin National Park is the largest protected site in Bulgaria and is on the unseco world heritage list for the preservation of historical and natural heritage. In recent years tens of millions have been invested in ski infrastructure including new gondola, several express chairlifts and a comprehensive snowmaking system

The town is a scene of contrast between old and new. Modern apartments have recently been constructed around the ski gondola, while the old town to the north has meandering cobbled streets and pretty old buildings.

In summer various activities are available including hillwalking, rock climbing, horseriding and mountain biking, not to mention relaxing with a glass of Bulgarian wine. Bansko also hosts an international jazz festival and a folk music festival during the summer.

The traditional Bansko taverns called "Mehana" offers exceptional charm, style and atmosphere with their great cuisine and a good selection of Bulgarian wines.
